"How does one create an environment? What does it mean to make a home? By using almost exclusively wool top (the precursor to garment-weight yarn), I have knitted a structure that expands and contracts with the needs of the inhabitant. Borrowing from Kazakh yurts and Irish knitting traditions as well as the work of contemporary furniture designers, my Woolshed explores the concepts of permanence and home. Named for the shearing sheds dotting the landscape of former sheep farms, I hope my work will encourage viewers to contemplate their relationship with animals, the Earth, and themselves. The following document catalogs my experience constructing this work."
