Abstract
“Museums are often regarded as sources of knowledge in the form of the artifacts that they collect, and the information that accompanies these artifacts. I am interested in the authority that accompanies this information and leads to an often-unquestioned reading by viewers. Using the language of the museum I explore questions of what is real and what is not. I create Art Installations, which mimic a museum by placing artifacts, and narrative text panels that I fabricated within. Using the museum environment I attempt to tell a story leading the viewer away from reality through this narrative. By creating this false environment I hope to ask questions about the nature and sources of authority within the museum and perhaps create a critical discussion on verity within the museum.”
