"Suppose that life can be compared to the crossing of a bridge and from beginning to end it spans a space of time in which all of existence is experienced. As a person who creates functional ceramics, I am developing ways to enhance an individual's everyday experience. The way a hot cup of coffee fits in your palm or the familiarity of a favorite bowl, are reflections of the impact of these pieces. Clay reaches across all races, cultures, religions, and traditions building a bridge between those who may be conflicting in every other aspect. My desire is to attain a personal level of response from my audience while preserving my influences in the piece at the same time. There should be no misunderstanding about the way the pieces are arranged. The best way to truly see functional work is in its own setting. Art belongs in the everyday and you will undoubtedly see things that are familiar and unfamiliar to you at the same lime. Maybe today you will be reminded of something you have experienced in a previous part of your passage across the bridge."
