    Abstract
The author describes an installation of photographs, cut paper mosaic, and wooden botanical plaques. The artist statement declares "As a whole the human race processes its environment, extracting what it desires, leaving behind what it doesn't. Often times the result is an over-processed facsimile of something that once was. Behold Valveeta, a cheese "food" product. We have taken this beyond the obvious, beyond the store and consumables, applying it the natural. That is why I choose sod as the gallery's floor. It is one of those objects that we perceive as being raw and natural, yet it's another processed fabrication. If one dissects the nature of its creation, existence, and use, its lack of naturalness becomes apparent. It is cultivated, cut, packaged, sold, and transplanted into someone's yard. I have taken this one step further with each flower portrait, to give you an overprocessed botanical garden. While wholly organic, constructed of wood and paper, the portraits are only facsimiles of flowers, but still natural in their ingredient."
