"What's It Worth?" A Full Business Valuation of a Publicly Traded Company
Abstract
This project provides an analysis on the process of valuing a company, specifically reviewing the different techniques and methods used by financial analysts when valuing an asset. This review begins with an academic literature review of the major business valuation techniques. It discusses the evolution of the theories, as well as which methods and techniques academics prefer. This study then applies the theory to an actual public company by performing a full valuation analysis on the target company using the theories discussed. This review will focus on the basic valuation theory behind the two most popular valuation methodologies: the income approach and the market approach. The valuation was performed using relevant financial information and financial models. The study concluded the total enterprise, equity, and per share price and compared it to the current per share price of the stock. The study found that the valuation methods provided an accurate forecast of the market valuation for the firm. in
