Beyond the Nonprofit Starter Pack : Fully Integrating Salesforce into an Environmental Nonprofit Organization
Abstract
Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice, or DWEJ, is a small nonprofit organization based out of Detroit. They aim to abolish the environmental harms which plague so many low income residents of the city. Unfortunately, their inefficient consumer relationship management, or CRM, software was hampering their progress rather than facilitating it. Thus, I decided to undertake the monumental challenge of redesigning their CRM system. This paper will explore both the business and nonprofit iterations of Salesforce; as well as how I solved DWEJ's problems, and further recommendations to align their usage of Salesforce with their business goals. Before analyzing the non-profit edition of the sales cloud I will discuss the business edition of the cloud and the business edition of the other clouds. The discussion of the business editions will be fairly topical as the other clouds do not have a dedicated nonprofit edition. Some have the potential to be integrated into a nonprofit instance, while the others are mentioned solely in order illustrate the full capabilities of the Salesforce system.
