Abstract
As a studio art major, I decided that I wanted to take advantage of the internship opportunities afforded to me through the GLCA New York Arts Program. The connections I made in New York resulted in a six week internship in Rome, Italy. I was asked to keep a daily journal of my experiences abroad to keep a record of all my projects. This SIP includes three parts. The first is a memoir I wrote in Rome and on the plane back to the United States. I drew from the experiences I wrote about in my daily journal and reflected on the momentous experience in the most natural way I could. The second is a booklet compiled of all the photographs I took in Rome and all the projects I worked on in my internship. Lastly is a research paper about socially engaged art and my favorite examples of artists who have used their power and skills to evoke a positive change.
