    Abstract
This paper reports the effects of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in dispersion decreasing fiber (DDF) with various inputs and power. The investigation into SBS includes experiments with a DFB laser, an externally modulated DFB laser, CW laser, a CW laser modulated with a Mach-Zehnder modulator, and a mode-locked picosecond laser. With these experiments, the SBS threshold in DDF is successfully determined to depend on both linewidth and power.
