Effect of Exogenous Leptin on the Body Weight of ob/ob and Leptin-Receptor Null Mice

Abstract

Hunger and satiety are regulated by many different hormones and signals prominently involved in endocrine function, one of which is leptin. Leptin is encoded by the ob gene, while the leptin receptor is encoded by the db gene. We hypothesized that ob/ob mice would lose more weight on average than LepR-Null mice after leptin injection treatment, and that leptin activity would be detected in the brains of ob/ob mice.
