Abstract
This study outlines objectives, strategies and techniques for recovery of the Karner Blue Butterfly (KBB) in Michigan by habitat assessment. The purpose of this study was to investigate key components required within KBB habitats, such as the presence of tending ant species and wild lupine populations, for habitat suitability of the KBB in an unoccupied site in Fort Custer Training Center (FCTC) . Two sites were chosen for investigation of key KBB habitat requirements, Allegan State Gaming Area (ASGA) with viable KBB populations, and FCTC, a site with lupine habitat but no KBBs.
