Queer Love in the Bible
MetadataShow full item record
Despite the use of the Bible as an exclusionary text in the past, proactive queer interpretations of the text of the Book of Ruth and the Books of Samuel can allow for increased inclusion and representation for queer individuals. Some aspects of the Bible and how it is used may make a queer person choose between sexuality and religion. However, these interpretations of Ruth and Naomi and Jonathan and David offer examples of the extraordinary love and devotion of queer people. Although some of these ideas are new and not always accepted, they stem from the same material as all other interpretations and should be approved of as valid alternatives. Queer people have always existed and acknowledgement of their presence, especially in history is an important step in acceptance in the present.
