The Importance of Youth Empowerment in Non-Profit Organizations: An Analysis of Youth Development Practices in Open Roads Bike Program
Abstract
Youth development is a modern area of study that encompasses the importance of empowerment in the adolescence stage of psychological development. This thesis describes the theories established about empowerment in non-educational institutional settings thus far, and analyses the reality of these theories through the first-hand experience of a Community Building Intern at Open Roads Bike Program in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
