The goal of this paper is to examine how to become a math teacher who can motivate students to succeed. To accomplish this goal the author reviews the literature on the subject and describes how he applied it during his internship. He observed multiple classroom situations, interviewed colleagues, and conducted a student survey in order to answer the question, what motivates students to learn mathematics?
