Abstract
that will be analyzed to interpret the connections between an individual and Hmong culture. It places the self within a social context. These stories can be written in the first person and include thoughts, emotions, and self-consciousness as relational and institutional stories affected by history, social structure, and culture. Autoethnography is not a study of self alone and is often connected to others such as family members, friends, colleagues, and neighbors and "as a result it interweaves stories from the past with ongoing self-discovery in the present." In the process of discovering myself, it also connects my stories to my parents and other Hmong people and seeks to create a better understanding of the bigger picture. Autoethnography can help me understand the complexities of different people's experiences of everyday social and cultural processes. I am using autoethnography because it is a useful and powerful tool for researchers and practitioners who work with human relations in multicultural settings. There are benefits to using this approach, in that it can make research more connected to personal stories, it can enhance cultural understanding for both me and others, and it has a potential to create a bond between others and me, as we work together and find common ground. Autoethnography also allows one to have a deeper understanding of their role in the community and relate their stories to those arol.md them. Thailand's new minimum wage policy, which was approved on 1 April 2012 to regulate salaries in seven provinces and was later implemented nationwide on 1 January 2013, has been a source of much debate on whether or not its implementation has contributed to an economic prosperity for the nation or has instead lead to serious repercussions by actually being a flawed attempt at restructuring the national economic principles. By implementing the economic theories of Demand and Supply, Production and Costs, and Nominal Wage Rigidity, this Senior Individualized Project aims at analyzing the causes and consequences concerning the minimum wage policy. With some of the most notable backlashes being a decrease in working opportunities, a rigid and abrupt implementation of the policy, an uprising in illegal immigration, and escalated price increases, has the minimum wage policy been suitable and beneficial for the Thai economy? Or has it halted the nation's economic progress? This research project will evaluate on the policy's effectiveness as it ambitions to lead the country to prosperity.
