Abstract
As the threat of coronary artery disease (CAD) rises through the decades, developing a nearly painless, but efficient, method of scanning for the disease becomes imperative. This proposal was developed to outline, prospectively, a protocol for an observational, clinical trial evaluating the presence of undiagnosed CAD. The proposed study will focus on a population with no symptoms but with specific risk factors for the disease, aims to evaluate the arising candidate for the position, the CT scanner. By way of coronary CT angiography (CCTA), the clinical efficacy and patient satisfaction will be assessed within this approaching clinical trial; therefore, this thesis details the development of the protocol that will be utilized. Moreover, the anticipated outcomes of this future study are briefly invesitaged to display the possible clinical and public benefits of routine coronary CT angiograms for these at-risk populations. It is forecasted that through this study and future research, the CT scanner, by way of CCTA, is to become the key instrument in combating CAD.
