Over a six week period in the summer of 2012 I was able to work in Chicago, IL at a small start-up company by the name of inerTRAIN, founded by Jeff Marinucci. In a world that already has online dating, online education, and online banking, inerTRAIN' s aim is to bring personal training and fitness to the World Wide Web. People these days are constantly on the go, whether it's for work, school, or family life. It can be extremely difficult to find time to make it to a gym or club to workout with all of these other commitments going on. Therefore, because inerTRAIN' s services are all conducted over the internet, it gives each client the freedom to work out whenever, and wherever is most convenient for them. With a real personal trainer on the other side of the computer screen, each customer has access to a certified professional who can help them achieve personal fitness goals. The main purpose of my internship at this company was to come up with ways to ·market the company and increase brand recognition, but by spending minimal or no money at all. Because of these budget constraints, my work was heavily focused on new, free mediums of advertising that are becoming more and more popular each day: social media. Even though they are often associated with crazed teenagers, social media is a very powerful source of exposure and can serve as a great way for companies to reach out and increase their audience base.
