Abstract
The Tea Party movement was a new and exciting political force when I started researching for my SIP. I was curious about why it was here, what it was about, and how it might change U.S. politics. I wanted to know more about the movement and the forces behind it. The voice of some of the activists within the movement seemed muted, and the majority of information about them came from the media. Therefore, I wanted to speak with supporters of the Tea Party movement at the grassroots level. This experience was very eye opening. Those whom I interviewed discussed aspects about the Tea Party that had not been very well explored. Speaking with these supporters allowed me to better understand the Tea Party movement overall and aided my approach to the topic.
