Abstract
This paper will be an inquiry into the politics of immigration policy in the United States. My curiosity for immigration as a transnational phenomenon grew during my study abroad experience in Strasbourg, France. There, I witnessed the political climate of the 2012 presidential campaigns and election of Francois Holland, member of the parti socialiste, as President of the Fifth Republic of France. The few months I spent there were enough to expose me to antiimmigrant sentiments, in particular, guided at les arabes.
