Symptoms Following Sport Concussions Across Age Groups
Abstract
Sports concussions have become increasingly important medical conditions across all ages of athletes, and it is now crucial for testing procedures and injury protocol to extend beyond just college and professional athletics. There are currently a number of different methods used to monitor “older” athletes before and after sustaining a concussion, and useful techniques to compare cerebral performance after a head injury to a time before impact. However, there are very few effective testing procedures for youth athletes; therefore, this project attempts to discover the most at-risk age group in regards to these injuries, in order to propose new research funding distribution and a re-evaluation of the sports medicine literature.
