MetadataShow full item record
An observational study was done during the summer of 2012 at Pretty Lake Vacation Camp (PLVC), a non-profit entity located in Texas Township, Mattawan, Michigan. Research was conducted on the factors that are involved regarding at-risk youth as well as intervention techniques such as schools and camps. Poverty, race, and parental relationships were the central dynamics studied among the many conditions that put youth at risk. Six sessions of observation were conducted by the observer, in the role of a counselor at PLVC. Individual campers’ stories are discussed and analyzed in terms of past research on the factors putting youth at risk and ways Pretty Lake seeks to promote change.
