Abstract
Two days before her theater internship in Seattle was to begin, the author discovered that her mentor was losing his job as resident lighting designer due to economic restructuring. Going ahead with the trip to Seattle, the author becomes a freelance lighting designer, working at different Seattle-area theaters on several productions: The Night Was Young or A Bitch in Heat Produces Blind Pups, To Be Young and Gifted and Black, as well as lighting for the Radost Folk Ensemble, and a stint as a scenic artist.
