Abstract
The 2008 merger between Anheuser-Busch and InBev was the biggest cash takeover ever recorded. Anheuser-Busch was a strong leader in the U.S. beer market and InBev was the largest overall brewer in the world. The paper will explore the steps of how a merger of two beer industry super powers took place. A brief history of both companies will be introduced, followed by an overview of each company's respective market positions. Next, the pros and cons Anheuser-Busch would face agreeing to the merger are discussed, and followed by how the merger was completed and what compromises both companies faced for following through with the merger. Finally, the final product of the merger, Anheuser-Busch Inbev, is discussed, along with the difficulties and successes of the newly formed company.
