James P. Cadman studied in the college's Preparatory Department and then went on to graduate from the college in 1863. After graduation he served in the 11th Michigan Cavalry. The College Archives contain several of his diaries and class notebooks as well as his cavalry gloves, musket balls, and cartridge pouch.
