In a place as unique as La MaMa Umbria an individual, especially an artist, possesses no control over how much beauty and freedom of expression affects the soul. Together, the participants, teachers, and Ellen Stewart created a special place for artists. In finding the familiar strange we made the strange familiar in theatre, and in our individual journeys. I drew from all the resources at my fingertips and worked to release my fears, my guilt, and my preconceptions. From La MaMa Umbria I took all that it offered, a bounty.
