I wanted to use this play about theater, about ourselves, about the world and our shortcomings to show what can happen. I wanted this play to have a glimmer of the community that can result during a theatrical performance. By approaching this performance as a ritual, I wanted to see if the actors and audience could reach catharsis and through that catharsis create community. The Dungeon production of Offending the Audience achieved communitas only when the actors put their souls into the performance and allowed their emotions to fill the theater.en_US
