The act of translation in general has come to be a process of balance, of give and take, of sacrifice and satisfaction with a product that will only ever approach the original. The goals of a modern translator are not only to transfer over meaning, but also to stay true to the style, flow and feel of the original; not to communicate necessarily what the author actually said but what he or she "meant'' to say. It is this intention, how the source author meant to affect his/her audience, that should encapsulate the soul of a translated text. In no other format are the subtleties and objectives created by the source author more difficult to capture than in texts made for the stage.en_US
