Abstract
I have elected to stylize this element of the playwriting project - the write-up - in a
manner that suits the project as a whole, is true to the work, & serves the play so far as the
process behind its creation needs to be documented. The tone of the write-up is not formal; it is a
work of creative non-fiction whose main purpose is to tell a story, no less crafted than a research style
essay, & no less analytical.
The play is ultimately about dialogue & dialect, spoken & unspoken, the idioms & details
& storytelling at the core of pub & session. Describing the play's creation (which is a tale that
begins firmly & geographically in the territory of Fine itself) in a traditional academic register
would be discrediting the language of the play, a blatant superimposition of convention on a
work and progress that have little relation to convention at all.
