U.S. Comicbooks in Japan

Abstract

Building from the foundation laid in this independent study became the focus of my SIP proposal and I posed the question of "How can I carry over what I learned about the differences between US and Japanese comics into the actual experience of creating comics itself?" The transformation of my thoughts and ideas into the finished comicbook project went through a definite and sometimes trying process. Specifically, I went through the following steps: a) story creation, b) script writing, c) page layout, d) page pencils, e) script translation, t) page inks, and g) page lettering. Within each area, I had experiences that ultimately shaped the final product seen in my SIP, "Habitat Red: The Fall of Winter".
