Paintings of My Gramma
Abstract
I would say that I knew what I wanted the focus of my SIP to be from the start. I had decided on
study abroad that I wanted to do a painting SIP instead of a working with ceramics. This is mostly because
I was relatively inexperienced in the physical act of painting. I have always had a tremendous appreciation
for painting and its history, but had not done much of it myself. I took painting I my spring quarter
sophomore year, painted a little bit on study abroad, and then took part II the first trimester this year. In
painting II I found what would become the focus of my SIP: It was to be a general exploration of artists and
styles that have influenced me in the past few years. Secondly, this project is a tribute to my grandma, who
has played a large role in my development as a person.
