The Progress of a community: The Evolution of Agriculture in Pacayas, Costa Rica
As a Sociology/Anthropology major with a concentration in Latin American studies I chose to do my Foreign Study in Bogota, Colombia. That experience introduced me to life in a bustling Latin American metropolis and Latin America itself. Upon returning to the U.S. I participated in a second Career Development working with Central American refugees in the U.S. As my SIP quarter approached, I decided that living and working in a rural/agricultural community in Latin America would be an appropriate complement to my previous urban experience in Bogota. Studying the evolution of agriculture in Pacayas, Costa Rica, gave me the opportunity to fulfill my desire to live in rural Latin America and provided an unforgettable learning experience.
