Organizational Control of Volunteers at Gryphon Place of Kalamazoo
Abstract
The author volunteered at Gryphon Place, which provides 24-hour crisis intervention over the phone. This project examines the organization of agencies like Gryphon Place that rely heavily on the participation of volunteers and how these agencies continue to function properly and achieve their established goals. The study includes the history of volunteerism in America, an overview of Gryphon Place and its training programs, as well as a discussion of the scope of volunteer responsibilities, and how the organization maintains morale.
