dc.description.abstract | The following study focuses on the many problems assistant district attorneys face
in a domestic violence courtroom. The courtroom is that of 906, located in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Day to day, the interviewed and studied prosecutors enter the Criminal
Justice Center, barely equipped for the problems, dilemmas, and potential courtroom
catastrophes that await them. In the following research data, I have outlined these
problems, their effects, and how prosecutors barely manage to cope with them.
This research was conducted via the Women Against Abuse Legal Center, located
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I collected my findings by way of participant observation
while working as an advocate in courtroom 906. During my frequent victim and attorney
contacts, I maintained this role of a victim and prosecution advocate while collecting
information that would designate and portray this room as a tumultuous room for
prosecutors. My involvement in the field lasted from September 22, 1997 until
December 6, 1997. | en_US |
