An Analysis of the Elements of Recovery used by Clients in the Substance Abuse Management Module (SAMM) at InterAct of Michigan

The goal of this project was to conduct a client evaluation ofthe Substance Abuse Management Module. SAMM is a program for dual diagnosis clients, suffering from a mental illness and a substance abuse addiction. This evaluation is based on nine interviews conducted with clients who had completed SAMM at InterAct of Kalamazoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Throughout the interview process, the factors of comprehensive case management and meaningful patient and client relationships were found to be especially important to the recovery process.
