Abstract
This paper explores the self-esteem in Kenyan impoverished youth living in Kibera, the largest slum in East Africa. In addition, it deals with community development projects going on in the area and how they contribute to overall development. Youth participated in a performance and creative expression project called Operation Tusaidiane. The project focused on improving self-esteem and building community. Our hopes were to also contribute to individual and community capacity building and sustainability, as well as make strides towards overall development.
