dc.description.abstractAn abundance of research has been conducted to more fully understand the relationship between anxiety and depression. Yet because of incongruent findings on this subject, researcher have been unable to agree upon a single accurate model to represent the complete relationship of anxiety and depression. This paper evaluates the five theoretical models that have been constructed thus far based on evidence from the clinical course, the psychological assessments and psychometric data, the patient treatment outcomes, and the family history studies of anxiety and depression. This paper also illustrates the importance of understanding the relationship between anxiety and depression based on the elevated suicide rates of those individuals who suffer from concurrent anxiety and depression.en_US
