Abstract
The effect of a drama camp experience on the self-esteem of individuals with mental retardation is the proposed study. A total of 75 individuals with mild to moderate retardation (38 males and 37 females; mean age= 25 years) (IQ range 50-68) will complete the California Test of Personality, Primary Level, to measure self-esteem, which is determined through scores on total adjustment, personal adjustment, and social adjustment. Form AA will be taken before and Form BB will be taken after a week-long drama camp, recreational camp, or workshop experience. Twenty-five of the participants will attend drama camp for a week, 25 will attend a recreational camp for a week, and the other 25 will continue their usual routine of attending the daily workshop.
