Abstract
This paper proposes a study in which coping strategies of children diagnosed with asthma would be compared against the strategies employed by parents of children with asthma. Despite a wealth of knowledge available concerning the coping strategies used towards asthma by children with the disease and their parents, however, there is no literature directly comparing the two. The study is based around loose narrative interviews conducted in two groups, parental participants and child participants. It is believed that should the study be conducted, parents would typically exhibit more goal-oriented strategies than children, and children would more frequently utilize avoidant and denial-based strategies.
