Abstract
This paper is a compilation of the knowledge I have acquired in the field of soccer goal-tending. It is a combination of my own ideas, accepted training regimen and applications of appropriate techniques. Personal theory regarding various aspects of the goaltender is contained within the whole of the work. Students of the game of soccer should be able to reap some value from this paper. Exposure to the world of goal tending by any soccer player or coach should help to promote a greater total awareness of the entire game. Covered in the pages ahead are the steps that one must follow in order to become a fully competent goaltender. The study of goalkeeping can and should be divided into specific areas of skill orientation and practice. The paper opens with an overview of goaltending along with particular personal observations concerning the position itself. Conditioning and basic training for fitness are then covered, leading into the defensive role of the goaltender.
