A Selection of Short Stories from the Collection "The Television War" by Fritz Rudolf Fries
MetadataShow full item record
From Fries' second major literary effort, The Television War and Other Short Stories, 1969, I have selected three stories for translation. All three concern the problem of war and its effects both on the active participants and on those transformed by the media into indirect participants, or spectators. The Three short stories, 'Viva America!,' 'The Television War,' and 'The Runner on the Roof,' take place, respectively, during the Cuban Revolution, the American War in Vietnam, and the final stages of the Second World War in shattered Germany.
