As an intern at IIE (Institute of International Education)/Midwest, I worked with Heidi Gregori, Coordinator of Information and Community Services. My role was to assist in developing an international studies presentation based on materials contained in the IIE display shown in the gallery of the Sun-Times building for the month of January. I also assisted Heidi with regular counseling duties and updating and expanding the resource library. I answered letters from students inquiring about study programs overseas and assisted people who came to our office looking for information on programs or schools abroad. I wrote letters to foreign universities, cultural organizations, student organizations, and foreign information services asking for materials for the resource library. At the end of my internship, I had received at least a reply, and more often some form of information from over one-half the organizations to which I wrote. I had many duties, but my main project was the international studies presentation.
