My SIP has started a personal challenge to overcome my personal biases of how I draw people, specifically faces. One of my goals has been to retrain my eye and hand to discover subtle differences that people hold in their face. I believe that assumptions are made about the type of person someone is by how they look; what cloths they wear, their skin type, facial features, body type or general attractiveness. Conclusions about family, education, job are used to decide how we will react to this person either on a social or personal level. I want people to feel their assumptions and question their judgment when the face is removed from a situation. Can you know a person by their face, what they look like, their skin, their nose, and their forehead? I am attempting to challenge assumptions and ideas of difference. Part of the faces identity is formed by the juxtaposition of the seven other faces. The juxtaposition emphases difference between individuals in the group. The individuals in the group are integrated into a coherent congregation.en_US
