A Study of Louisiana French

Abstract

This study of Louisiana French has three major objectives: to examine the historical development of the dialect from its origins to the present day; to analyze a representative sample of Cajun French in comparison with Standard French to give an idea of its nature; and to project the probable fate of the French language in Louisiana.
