Exploring Japanese Management

A number of specific managerial practices emerged in post-war Japan that have been credited with giving Japanese distinct advantages in productivity and quality. These gained the attention of the world in the 1980's as Japan emerged as an industrial superpower. This paper will examine the general field of Japanese management and will explore just-in-time manufacturing in order to observe the effectiveness of Japanese management and the ability of Japanese managerial practice to be applied elsewhere.
