The Effects of Free Air Zoo's 30th Anniversary Promotion

With the current economy, entertainment attractions such as museums have been struggling to maintain visitor attendance levels. In light of its 30th anniversary of operation, the Air Zoo, an air and space museum in Portage, Michigan, developed a promotion for free general admission during the summer of 2009. The effects were astounding with attendance levels increasing 300 percent from previous years' numbers. In analyzing survey responses, guests were amazed by all that the Air Zoo had to offer and all would recommend the museum to their family and friends. Local businesses also saw some positive effects from the promotion, but were overall grateful for the marketing scheme bringing in more people to the Kalamazoo area. With an upsurge of buzz created, the Air Zoo decided to continue the promotion to .determine its full effects while considering options for future growth.
