Abstract
The author describes his internship with Enterprise rent-a-car. Enterprise rents out cars in such a way that, generally, about 90% of the cars are being rented out at any given time. The rental car industry is dominated by eight large rental car companies, all of which strive to operate in such a profit maximizing way. Enterprise is the largest firm in the industry, but there are many different customers with different needs and each company searches for its own niche or dominates the niche that it has found. It is necessary to overview all of these firms to establish the background for analyzing Enterprise's actions and successes.
