First Investors Corporation and the Mutual Fund Concept
Abstract
The author describes his internship at First Investors Corporation in Northville, Michigan. He completed training to be licensed under the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) as an Investment Company/Variable Contracts Limited Representative and in the State of Michigan as a Uniform Securities Agent. The second section delves into the concept of mutual funds, describing briefly how they work as well as providing an overview of some of the most prominent funds owned by First Investors. This section points out the characteristics of each fund as well as some of the risks involved with each. It ends with a synopsis of the tradeoff between risk and reward.
