Abstract
This past summer I worked for Stryker Instruments as an accounting/ finance intern. I worked in several different areas of the Stryker finance department including payables and receivables, but my primary focus was in cost accounting. I worked under two mentors that assigned me responsibilities to be completed daily, weekly, and monthly. These responsibilities put to use the skills I learned in the accounting classes that I have taken at Kalamazoo College. In the Experiential Description part of this document I will describe the responsibilities of the Stryker Instruments' cost accounting team and how I assisted in completing our daily, weekly, and monthly projects as a finance intern. As a student at Kalamazoo College I have taken Principles of Accounting and Managerial Accounting, both taught by Professor Tim Moffit. In the Connections Essay portion of this paper I will refer to these classes and give specific examples of how the work done in those classes assisted in the work I completed for Stryker Instruments.
