Abstract
This research project is based on an internship that I did at LECO Corporation in
St. Joseph, Michigan during the summer of 2006 and explores the topic of travel
management consolidation through a single travel agency, as well as general market
trends in the travel management industry. LECO was interested in consolidating all of its
business travel reservations through a single travel agency which also offered an online
booking tool. I researched and presented my findings and recommendations in a formal
proposal to the management at the end of the summer. The experiential description part
deals with the actual research and decision-making process that was the basis of my
recommendation. The connections essay part of the project focuses on the economic
aspects of consolidating corporate travel through a single travel management company
and general trends and developments in both the air travel and travel management
industries.
