The written portion of my one unit SIP consists of a detailed experiential account of my daily tasks and responsibilities at First Home Financial, Inc., a manufactured home loan origination firm where I interned from June to September of 2001. This is followed by a research portion in which I explain the manufactured housing industry, and how a company such as First Home Financial benefits from consumer loan origination within this industry. These sections are divided into subsections in which I go into greater detail about specific areas of my internship. Contained within this written portion are my experiences, thoughts, reflections, and knowledge gained while interning at First Home Financial throughout the summer as well as information I obtained through secondary sources such as interviews with employees and consulting newsletters and/or Internet sites. In some cases, I have supplemented my findings with an appendix containing tables and graphs found at the end of this project. I learned a considerable amount in the area of consumer finance through this internship and enjoyed it immensely. Through a daily routine of working in a professional environment I was able to gain significant skills and insights into a future career, and supplement my education in the classroom at Kalamazoo College.
