Bryerpointe Kennel: A Business Plan and Exploration of Financing Options
Abstract
There are not enough kennels in the Metro-Detroit area to support the growing
demand for boarding, grooming, training and breeding dogs and cats. Pet owners are
fanatic about their beloved pets, and they will not entrust them to anyone; the kennel that
they stay at must be safe, reliable and trustworthy.
A dependable kennel is needed in three main cities of Southeastern Detroit: West
Bloomfield, Canton Township and Novi. Due to high income levels, present population
and population growth rates, a kennel would be most prosperous in the West Bloomfield
area. Furthermore, there are no key competitors in this area, improving the chances of
success.
In order for a kennel to be successful, it must possess several key characteristics.
The first, and most important, is a good sense of customer service. Another important
characteristic is a well-structured facility. Lastly, a strong marketing plan, targeting key
consumers is necessary.
Bryerpointe Kennel would flourish in the Detroit Area because the owners can
target the market in most need of a kennel, provide outstanding service, and retain their
business. In order to do so, their business plan must be financed through various sources.
While financing their business, however, there are many steps to take and obstacles to
overcome.
